I'm twenty-one, a girl, a student (almost done, but there's a thesis to get through!), and a Brit living abroad. :-D But enough about me. Onto fandom! ;-)

I'm not the greatest fan of the books. I don't think JKR is necessarily a great writer. Still, she has a wonderful imagination and has been gracious enough to give us a nice world to play in. I've been a fanfic reader and author for several years now (two and a half, to be roughly exact!), starting with Dramione and slowly progressing to SS/HG, although now I'm branching out again and toying with all other sorts of ships, including a little femmeslash, some slash, and other het Hermione pairings!

Those of you interested in reading my fics can do so here on LJ, here at The Petulant Poetess, here at SH (Ashwinder, Pureblood and Eros and Sappho), and here at OWL. I have posted fics elsewhere, such as at Coloured Grey and Granger Enchanted, but these are the sites I devote most attention to updating. Even so, OWL is a little behind as I only joined recently (although I love it!), Sycophant Hex separates things onto three separate archives, my LJ comm I'm updating slowly but surely... all this to say, TPP is the quickest and easiest place to read everything I've done to date!

My Dramione fics are a little weak, or at least I think so now. I hope eventually to get around to fixing up all of my earlier writing. Personally, I think my best fic to date is my still-WIP SS/HG angstfest, Sky Is Falling, and it's taught me a whole lot about how I want to write and improved my writing immensely. I was very fortunate that the fic won a runner-up award in Quill to Parchment's last round:




If you want to see what I read, rather than what I write, I run a recommendations community—The New Library (the_new_library)—and help to run its sister-sites—The New Library Awards (tnl_awards), The New Library Nominees (tnl_nominees) and The New Library First-Time Fest (tnl_first_time)! Wow, that's rather a lot, isn't it? (So much, in fact, that I had to leave my position as an admin at The Petulant Poetess to handle it all! *sad face*) All of these sites are dedicated to broadening our ship and genre horizons, and in particular finding new and underappreciated gems (and creating some new ones, in the fest!). If you're interested in branching out, or even just reading some great fics in your own personal OTP, join up to the comms and enjoy what we've recced/nominated/written! :-)

TNL is open 24/7, always eager and ready to receive recommendations for any ship and genre in the HP Fandom! TNL Awards is just finishing its first round (end of May through to the second week of July), and I'm hoping that there will be another 'Classics' round from mid January to mid February. TNL Nominees is a comm where those who have been nominated in the Awards can post their stories if they wish. TNL First-Time Fest is to encourage authors to write something different: a different ship, genre, or length. It will be starting toward the end of August!
